Ruyan. World news Feed Article

Associated Press Writer= BEIJING (AP) — With its slim white body and glowing amber tip, it can easily pass as a regular cigarette. It even emits what look like curlicues of white smoke. The Ruyan V8, which produces a nicotine-infused mist absorbed directly into the lungs, is just one of a rapidly growing array of electronic cigarettes attracting attention in China, the U.S. and elsewhere — and the scrutiny of world health officials.

Marketed as a healthier alternative to smoking and a potential way to kick the habit, the smokeless smokes have been distributed in swag bags at the British film awards and hawked at an international trade show. Because no burning is involved, makers say there’s no hazardous cocktail of cancer-causing chemicals and gases like those produced by a regular cigarette. There’s no secondhand smoke, so they can be used in places where cigarettes are banned, the makers say.

American Idol Group Results. I like him, he has that whole southern charm thing working quite nicely and the man from small town Arkansas will have his opportunity to charm.

Tonight’s show had only one moment where we weren’t exactly certain who was staying and who would need some wild card help. The first two are anti-cliactic as the Adam Lambert is in and certainly can work a stage and you can add Allison Iraheta right into the top twelve as well. *** The slight surprise was Kris Allen. I saw this called a shock somewhere but that seems like a stretch. I like him, he has that whole southern charm thing working quite nicely and the man from small town Arkansas will have his opportunity to charm the really big audiences once idol finally gets down to business and eliminates some of the nonsense contestants.

Young girls will love him, how far can he go on American idol?

Jersey Devil. “I expect us to play as a team and play hard,” said Thompson, who had eight blocks in the South Region-clinching win Saturday over Baldwin County.

| The Central-Phenix City Red Devils will tell you, almost to a man, that the key to their run to the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A boys semifinal has been defense. It fuels their intensity and ignites their effort. “I’m real proud of our defense.

That’s the most important part of our team,” junior small forward Darren Daniel said. “On our team, we try to focus on our defense. Our offense comes from our defense.” Central plans to use its defense to win today’s Class 6A semifinal against Vestavia Hills.

Kate Winslet wins best actress Oscar for The Reader

“Titanic” star Winslet, 33, was Oscar-nominated five times in the past 13 years but had always returned home empty-handed. Her best actress Oscar joins two Golden Globes, a Screen Actors Guild award, a British BAFTA and a handful of U.S. critics awards that Winslet has won this season. “To the academy, thank you so much,” she said.

Winslet gave credit to her fellow best actress nominees — Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie and Melissa Leo — calling them “goddesses.” “I think we all can’t believe we are in the category with Meryl Streep at all,” Winslet said. In addition to Winslet’s acclaimed turn in “The Reader,” she won plaudits this awards season for her performance as a disillusioned housewife in “Revolutionary Road.” The two films were released only weeks apart.

Independent 2009. ‘Wrestler’ wins top indie honors at Spirit Awards

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – The sports comeback tale “The Wrestler” was picked as best picture Saturday at the Spirit Awards honoring independent film and won two other prizes, including best actor for Mickey Rourke. A tuneup for the Academy Awards on Sunday, the Spirit Awards featured several winners also up for Oscars, including three of the four acting choices – Rourke, best-actress recipient Melissa Leo for “Frozen River” and supporting-actress pick Penelope Cruz for “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” Rourke gave a prolonged, hilarious, expletive-laden acceptance speech, dedicating the award to Loki, his beloved Chihuahua that died six days earlier, and thanking everyone from his director, Darren Aronofsky, to the wrestling community.

He mentioned that he had just talked with the Santa Monica police department, which “gave me a bed to sleep in 10 years ago,” when Rourke was in the midst of the bad-boy behavior that made him a Hollywood has-been until his comeback in recent years with films such as “Sin City” and “The Wrestler.” The film stars Rourke as a washed-up former star with a last shot at glory in the ring. It also took the cinematography award for Maryse Alberti. The crowd gave Rourke a standing ovation and he received hugs and backslaps from audience members as he headed to the stage. “I didn’t realize how many closet Mickey Rourke fans there were,” Aronofsky said backstage.

Tina. Xzibit Likens Chris Brown To Ike Turner

Rapper Xzibit has compared Chris Brown to Ike Turner. Ike Turner was the ex-husband of Tina Turner. Their years of spousal abuse are now well documented.

Tina left Ike in 1976 after a violent argument with just 36 cents to her name. She spent months hiding from him. The story is well documented in the movie ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’. Xzibit twitters as mrxtothaz. In a posting this week he said, “Damn Chris Brown. the photo of Rihanna making you look like the new Ike Turner.

Marc Andreessen. Capitol Alert: Whitman names gubernatorial finance team

Silicon Valley billionaire Meg Whitman might not be expected to worry much about the hassles of campaign fundraising in her exploratory bid to become the next governor of California. But the former eBay CEO, who faces a Republican primary clash with state insurance commissioner and fellow wealthy tech entreprenuer Steve Poizner, is moving quickly to set up a campaign cash raking machine. Whitman’s finance leadership team, announced today, includes Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz, Cisco Systems chairman John Chambers and a giant in the weight loss business — Jenny Craig.

Other notables include Scott McNealy, chairman of Sun Microsystems, Netscape Communications co-founder Marc Andreessen, former Northwest Airlines chairman Gary Wilson and E. Floyd Kvamme, partner emeritus of the Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfield and Byers venture capital firm. Whitman earlier named exploratory campaign co-chairs, including former Gov. Pete Wilson and Reps. Kevin McCarthy and Mary Bono Mack.

Jennifer Love Hewitt. We’re all supposed to look how we’re supposed to look.

Jennifer Love Hewitt has advised Jessica Simpson to “ignore” the public debate over her apparent weight gain. Simpson attracted criticism from several tabloids after photographs emerged showing her looking curvier than normal during a performance in Florida. Speaking to Us Weekly, Hewitt said that the singer should “ignore it, live [her] life and be happy”, adding: “I wish they would leave her alone.

” The Ghost Whisperer star, who faced similar after being snapped looking curvy in a bikini two years ago, insisted that she is weary of the “unreasonable” Hollywood standards over a woman’s weight. “It gets silly. We’re all supposed to look how we’re supposed to look. We’re made to be different people,” she said. “Not everybody can be super tall and super skinny.
